Everywhere there are Signs!
And yet somehow I keep forgetting...

Don't forget the bridge between Mill Rd and Valley Green Rd on Stenton is closed.

For Laurentia Bowden...

Friends and Neighbors
Monica, Grace and Laura Bowden
<><>
St Gen's Teachers
Co-Leaders of Troop 7264 Geri Kotch and Julianne Bruno
Halligan's was packed tonight as family, friends, neighbors, classmates, teachers, and the Girl Scout Troop of Springfield Township came out to honor the memory of of Laurentia Bowden. Tonight, eating at Halligan's from 6-9 meant that 10% of your bill would go towards the purchase of a bench bearing the name of Mrs. Bowden and for a tree to be placed at Cisco Park in loving memory of Laurentia. Co-Scout Leaders Julianne Bruno and Geri Kotch led their Girl Scout Troop 7264 to gather the community for this very special event. Laurentia was a co-leader with Julianne and Geri and in speaking with them it is clear that Laurentia was a special person whose influence on them and their girls is truly missed. But through them, her memory will forever be remembered at Cisco Park where many of the Girl Scout events took place.

Donations are always welcome and came be made to:

Jammin for a Cause

On Saturday Night PJ Whelihan's in Blue Bell was host of The 3rd Annual Music for Milagre Festival.  The place was hopping as local Bands, The Manny Trio, Jonathan Roberts, The Ball Pointed Pens, The 309 and The Dodge City Junkies lent their time and talents to raise money for this very specal cause.  Event coordinators, Lauren Sullivan of Oreland, Alex Viele of Erdenheim and president of Milagre School, Tricia Cuce, hold this event dear and are grateful to all who generously support this important school.

Bishop McDevitt Class of 2010 graduate, Allison Pollock celebrated this milestone with family, friends and neighbors on Saturday at her parents house (Chuck and Tara) on Allen Rd. in Oreland.  Allison was beaming as she talked about her plans to head to Wildwood this summer and then off to Catholic University in D.C. this Fall.  Ahh, remember when?  I digress...

The sentiment at Holy Marty's last night was palpable.  Students, teachers, parents and alumni gathered last night to celebrate 55 years of Holy Marty's School and to say goodbye as it will close its doors this June.  Memories were shared, tears were shed and parents reminisced about the good times shared and the loss they will feel come next year.  But, it was clear that this close knit community will keep the parish going strong through the efforts of Colleen Kriz and her group of dedicated moms and grand moms.  The parishioners are dedicated to keeping Holy Martys the HUB of this special Oreland community.

Celebrating Pre-school Graduation!

Today Finn McCormick, 5, of Erdenheim (center) and Brady Greenberg, 5, of Blue Bell (left) celebrated their big graduation day with Finn's mom, Meredith at Hillcrest Pond.  They were picnicing, feeding the ducks and splashing in the pond.  Could there be a better way of celebrating?  Congratulations to the St Thomas class of 2010 :)

Great Day at Hillcrest Pond

Caitlin feeding the ducks
I met up with my sister, Ali Lewis of Oreland, as she spent her afternoon with her kids and a playmate feeding the ducks at Hillcrest pond. There was no better day for it.

Meeting up at Starbucks...

Richard Cutler of Whitemarsh and friend Brad Tate of Whitpain took some time to get together and enjoy the sunshine at Starbucks in Flourtown. They could have gone to any Starbucks but say "this is a great gathering place". Thanks guys, we think so too.

Just chatting on Hartwell Lane

What started out as a simple "hello" turned in to a wonderful chat fest for Wyndmoor residents Cathy Lynch (left) and Barbara Straussberg (right). Barabara, an area artist, showed us post cards of her work for an upcoming show in New Jersey. Can't wait to post some pictures of her pieces. Stay tuned.

Calling Small Businesses

This is a cute 300 sq. ft. storefront in Wyndmoor at the corner of Traymore and Willow Grove. Available for rent at just $500/month. Not available for food service but might be a cute little spot for a business looking to start small. Best deal in town.

Look Both Ways

You have probably noticed the crossing guard at Bethlehem Pike and Wissahickon Avenue and now here she is in action. Louise Scott or "Miss Lou" as she's called, of Flourtown, keeps our kids safe daily. Thanks Miss Lou :)

Just Getting Some Gas...

Mark Ryan of Wyndmoor filled her up at the Erdenheim Lukoil with his team as they trucked on to the next job for Mark Ryan Landscaping. Pictured from left are, Chris DePaul of Wyndmoor, Maximillian Cholula of Ambler and proprietor Mark Ryan of Wyndmoor. What a handsome trio and they service Springfield Township. Give them a call                   215-840-6526.

Duck, Duck...Stop the Car!

I spotted a couple of our Hillcrest feathered friends holding up traffic at the corner of Auchy and Montgomery Avenues in Erdenheim this afternoon. No worries though, no ducks were harmed in the posting of this blog :)
